Ok, So what is a social network?  I like to think of social networking as "Glorified Email."  With email you have a group of colleagues, friends, and family members who are your "contacts."  Information can be sent to and from your contacts.  Imagine if you could also see what your contacts are doing, what they are thinking, what their interested in, who they know and how they know them.  This is the benefit of social networks which are profile driven forms of email.

As a recent college graduate, I have seen first hand the growth of the social networking phenom through platforms such as Facebook and Myspace.  In fact today, 85 % of all college students use Facebook!
