Students Exploring Intrest
Students can explore interests for science, math, technology and any other field of interest by speaking to individuals who work in those occupations or fields of interests. By taking advantage of posted opportunities for internships, job shadowing, part-time and summer jobs, students can determine if the anticipated interest is "real" and if not re-focus in other areas. Online courses, video, podcasts are available in the content library for students to continue exploration and increase knowledge and skills. Career Day - Every Day!
Who Else Benefits?
Parents
Many students do not have a focus for interests or careers even through college graduation. Other students have a focus, but do not have the opportunity to explore their focus. For parents, any method of insuring that their students are motivated and engaged with learning is important. It allows the parent to become more involved in guiding and supporting their student's interest and ultimately career goals. All parents want their students to be eagerly engaged and maximizing their academic potential.
Counselors
Often counselors do not have the ability to devote individual time to each student. I-CAN provides counselors a tool to scale and serve the individual interests of every student and align interaction between the student and individuals that can inspire and motivate the student. This support provides the counselor the opportunity devote time to those students that require extra time and attention and to better serve the entire student population.
Teachers
A student that sees the connection between the "real world" application and academics will become a better student. Teachers will see better questions, grades, participation and attendance from these students. It is exciting for teachers when students are better prepared, interested in the curriculum and how it applies to industry.
